Who Needs NATO? I do.

15. jūnijā New York Times publicēja komentāru kas apšauba NATO vajadzību. Īsi pēc tam, avīze publicēja NATO atbildi. Tomēr uzrakstīju vēstuli redakcijai ar reakciju pirmam komentāram. NYT nepublicēja manu rakstu, bet māsas avīze, International Herald Tribune, gan publicēja (kaut gan apcirpts):

Oriģinālie komentāri/original op-eds:

Who Needs NATO? We all do: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/16/opinion/16iht-edwheatcroft16.html?scp=1&sq=who%20needs%20nato&st=cse

Oriģinālā vēstule ko nosūtīju/original letter that I submitted:

Dear New York Times,

In reference to Geoffrey Wheatcroft's question, “Who needs NATO?,” and Ivo H. Daalder's response, "We all do," I would like to stress how important NATO has been in securing a peaceful Europe. The possibility of World War III igniting in Europe is difficult to imagine today--despite the fact that the last two devastating World Wars began in Europe, not more than a generation ago--due to the fact that NATO has been so instrumental in providing an aegis under which the continent can unify and ward off destructive forces, such as within the Putin regime that seek to recapture past and illegally annexed territories.

The alliance continues to provide structure and security that the U.S. and the rest of the world needs.
